Privacy policy

Privacy is not a setting bolted onto Readmy, it is how the instrument is built. This page says what is collected, what is never collected, why, and who is accountable for it.

01Who we are

Readmy® is part of the InnoQlar® Group family of products, but it is a separate operation with its own governance. Readmy is owned and operated by Form Quantum, which is the data controller for everything described on this page. InnoQlar Group is not the controller for Readmy and this policy is not the InnoQlar Group policy.

Readmy is pre-release. The product is still being built and validated with the journal commissioning the work, so what is described here reflects the current, limited state of the product rather than a finished service. This page is updated as that scope changes.

02Website data

Collected automatically

  • Request logs held by our hosting provider, including IP address and user agent.
  • Aggregate page views, only where you have accepted optional cookies.

Provided by you

  • The name, organisation and message you choose to send when you contact us or request access.

We do not ask for special category data, and you should not send any through this website.

03Manuscript material and author consent

Readmy never receives a manuscript directly from a website visitor. Manuscripts reach Readmy only through a commissioning journal or editorial office, and only where the author or authors of that manuscript have already given consent for it, as part of the journal's own submission process. Readmy will not process a manuscript on any other basis.

Where Readmy reads a manuscript, the text is read once and abstracted: section and sentence structure is retained, the words themselves are masked, and legible text is discarded. Structural mentions such as Figure 2 or Table 1 and sequentially numbered citations stay legible because they are structural, not confidential.

Blinded by architecture, not by promise

The output an editor or reviewer sees is an index of where to look, not the manuscript itself. Figures are never surfaced, and author identity is not part of what Readmy maps. This is enforced by how the pipeline is built, so it holds even before any policy is read.

04Our approach to AI ethics

Readmy exists to support editorial work responsibly, so the ethical handling of manuscript material is a design requirement, not an add-on. This is what that means in practice:

  • Manuscript text is never used to train Readmy or any other model, ours or a third party's.
  • Readmy produces a structural index, not a judgement. It does not score, rank, or recommend acceptance or rejection of a manuscript or its authors.
  • Processing happens per manuscript, on the authorised journal's instruction, and is not repurposed for any other use.
  • Because the words themselves are masked at the point of abstraction, the same safeguard applies however the underlying model or infrastructure changes.
  • A journal or editorial office can raise a concern or ask us to stop processing a given manuscript at any time.

As the product moves from testing toward release, this section will be expanded with the same level of detail, not reduced.

05Why we hold it

  • Legitimate interests: operating and securing the website, and answering enquiries.
  • Consent: optional analytics cookies, which you can withdraw at any time, and the author consent obtained by the commissioning journal before a manuscript is processed.
  • Contract: work carried out with a journal, editorial office or institution under a signed agreement.

06Sharing and retention

We do not sell data and we do not share it for advertising. Data is shared only with service providers required to run the site, and with the commissioning journal where your enquiry concerns it. Enquiry correspondence is kept only as long as needed to answer it and to keep a record of any agreement, then deleted.

07Your rights

You can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal data, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Send your request to jqbio_pub@innoqlar.com and we will respond within one month.

08International transfers

Our hosting and email providers may process data outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. Where that happens we rely on UK adequacy regulations, the European Commission's adequacy decisions, or the standard contractual clauses together with the UK international data transfer addendum, and we keep the transferred data to the minimum the service needs.

09Security

The site is served over TLS. Access to enquiry correspondence is limited to the people answering it. Manuscript material is read once and abstracted before any output is shown, so legible manuscript text is not retained for review.

10Automated decisions and children

We do not carry out profiling or automated decision-making that produces legal effects for you. Readmy maps structure in a manuscript, it does not evaluate people, and it issues no accept or reject recommendation. This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

11Changes

Readmy is pre-release, so this policy will change as the product does, particularly the manuscript-material and AI-ethics sections above. Material changes are reflected in the last updated date at the top of this page.
